Fiamma F35 canopy question?

Post by Gixermark » Wed Jan 09, 2013 1:42 pm

Hiya
Buying an F35 pro Fiamma roll out canopy and wondered if someone can confirm the correct Fiamma brackets required to fit the Bongo please?
Believe its the Fiamma VW T4 ones but want to be sure before ordering!
Thanks
Mark

Hi

I think you need the fiamma VWT3/Mazda Bongo kit 2 pcs 8cm brackets part number 98655-035.

For models after 1980.

Regards
Steve :)

Mmmm not sure Steve re the T3 version! Looking at photo's on the forum they look different to the T3 and more like the T4 version.

Hi, The T3 will fit but it is a tight fit. At the back you will need to manipulate the gutter a little and at the front, careful placement in between the doors is required...but is possible because I have done it! I also recommend a thick sticky pad under each bracket as this prevents rocking on the gutter. Someone makes proper brackets though...but I can't remember who? Dave

I've put a stainless bolt through the brackets which prevents any rocking on the gutter and stops it bending.
The awning's rock solid and it helps to stop it rattling.
It obviously means drilling holes in the bodywork but as we have no intention of removing the awning it's not a problem.

Unfortunately, Fiamma never designed a bracket to fit the Bongo but over the years the T3/T4 Bracket was adapted by converters and with some gently persuasion fitted reasonably well, however the gauge of the bracket (quarter plate steel) is in my opinion a 'sledge hammer to crack a nut' especially when it is used to support the light weight f35 Pro... I made my brackets up from 3.0mm S/S bolted on to the roof panel which support's my F45S..don't rust, much lighter that the T3/T4 ones 8)

now if you got a Atf bongo an if the 35por fitting the same as the 45s then i would ring these BRIGEWATER METALCAFT LTD there made one that fits on the d ring blots an means you can get 3 fittings an not 2 wait hangs from the blots not the gutter.

i just had a look it dosnt seem the same fitting on the top .
