Buyer beware, (dodgy hook up cables on eBay)

Getting the final few bits together for impending delivery of converted Freda.

Off to Screwfix for decent quality IP44 plugs and sockets, then tried to find supplier of 2.5mm orange sheathed cable. No joy locally so on to eBay. So many made up 'caravan/campervan' either listed as 1.5mm or not specified.
Finally phoned converter to see if he stocked them. He gets drums from Screwfix and will give me any length I want at £1/mtr.

1.5mm is fine for most camping needs as it allows up to 3600 watts(15A) - just make sure that it's fully unwound is use - see http://www.diynot.com/pages/el/el004.php

'Make sure it is 2.5mm2, 3-core cabling - I can name a main dealer near here that is selling hook-up leads cheap, made up with 1.5mm2 cabling - don't be fooled!
Also make sure it is 25m long!'

Fair enough I've got both and never had any trouble with either - I also use a lot of electric appliances like , kettle, oven, toaster, infra-red grill, mini deep fat fryer, fan heater, electric frying pan - not all at once of course I never use more than 2Kw at any one time, so the 1.5mm is plenty powerful enough - probably not as good as a 2.5mm if you regularly drive over it

Just an opinion as unlike the orange cable .. the blue Arctic cable is more flexible / manageable when rolling up and putting away..
