fitting lap belts to reversed middle bench seat

Post by Bongonaughty » Mon Jan 18, 2021 10:05 am

Hi All,

I am reversing the middle row bench seat to face rearward but I need to keep three belted seats on it.

I have seen mention of 3 different posts of people who have fitted 2 additional lap belts to retain 3 on the bench (middle 1 is factory lap belt).

I cannot find a how to anywhere on these and no pics.

Has anyone got or seen/link a how to for this please?

Many thanks.

Sorry I had a good search but can't find details.
Allan's closed. We recommend PGS (Plymouth Garage Services) or Mayflower Auto Services in Plymouth.

Don't think anyone did a how-to, with or without pics.
I converted the wife's using Toyota Lucida belts taken from one with captains spinning seats. It worked really well I did have to make some mounting brackets and use the longer floor mounted stalks etc but it was very successful in my opinion and more important hers 🤭.
I looked into the legality of it with DVLA and they just said you don't need belts on rear facing seat but the Mrs wanted to look after our eggs if the 3 were all in the same basket.
We used child seat/s in the forward facing rears then as they got to booster seats and onward they were fine.
Lucida belts were a different colour so connecting the correct ones into the correct receiver was also ok as we retained the originals too.

Really useful, Ady. =D>

I know this has come up in the past so maybe worth a mini Fact Sheet?

It's longer than last week, so I cannot remember much more other than said above.
Bolted the new longer stalks to the existing lapstrap bolts then made outer edge seat brackets so that the new lapstraps fastened towards the centre of the seat. Got cassette type belts so that when undone they didn't foul the sliding door if hanging loose.
