DIY Conversion - Vangear

Post by digitalgypsy » Fri May 10, 2019 7:30 pm

Hello Bongo comrades.

So I'm currently obsessing over the third and final Bongo, and thinking how I can save money on a full side conversion. I really love the look of the Vangear products: https://www.vangear.co.uk/, in particular the full conversion options:

https://www.vangear.co.uk/xs-modular-sy ... -262-p.asp
https://www.vangear.co.uk/premium-modul ... -153-p.asp

So despite really liking those options, I'm wondering how they would fit into the side of the Bongo. I have seen that professional conversions will leave a cut into the worktop to make way for the column in interior plastic panel, like this: https://clearcutconversions.co.uk/onlin ... 3/07/3.jpg I don't think I could modify the Vangear units.

I was thinking I could negate modifying (cutting) the Vangear units by permanently removing the interior side panels, leaving it like this: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ce/62/36 ... 168a56.jpg

Can anyone see where I'm going with this? I would really appreciate some advice on whether you think these Vangear units could work as a side conversion and still leave enough room for a decent side rock and roll bed.

Thanks as always :)

Where are my expert opinions?

If anyone happens to read this, does anyone know the dimensions of the floor space in the main passenger area? i.e. from behind the driver's seat to the end of the van?

Hi Teenmal. I’m currently thinking of selling the Bongo tbh. The money would come in very handy and a small runaround would suit my needs much better at the moment. Will be first time without Bongo in 7 years :o
