Hello, I have just recently purchased my first Bongo and I am looking to convert, but do not have any idea what the cost could be so I am turning to anyone out there that can give me some advise, on best places to go that will do a good job for a competitive price. I am based in Essex but do not mind travelling on positive feedback. I am looking for a Leisure battery with split charge 12v system and 240v hook up system with plug sockets etc.
I do not want to fit it myself so if anyone can help I would be most grateful.
Many Thanks

Re: Rough cost to convert
Hi Maria
I don't know of anyone who does 'budget' conversions, but firms like New Dawn, Celtic Motorhomes, Clearcut, and 321 Away, are well thought of, along with others I haven't thought of.
As for price, it would depend exactly what you require, but do bear in mind an unconverted Bongo with a loo and brew kit is plenty adequate for camping.
Not a brilliant answer, but hope it helps a bit.

Re: Rough cost to convert
I've done this recently, and got costs to get it fitted before I did it myself.
All these costs are approximate. They varied by supplier:
Leisure battery - £100
Battery tray - £30
Voltage sensing relay - £100
Bongo specific wiring loom to put radio etc on leisure battery - £50
Fuse box with breakers, commando socket & 1x double 13amp socket - £80
Fitting £150
I've seen it a bit cheaper than that, and also a lot more expensive.
I don't have experience of any electrical auto engineers by you I'm afraid.
Thanks

Re: Rough cost to convert
Thanks very much Gents for your feedback, the prices given are pretty much near to the quote I have received today from a small family run business close to me ,they were really helpful the only slight problem is they do not do the fitting, I think it's always nice to try to get these things all done under the same roof.... but we can't have all can we ?
I will get another couple of quotes as I have been kindly given a few more leads, and hopefully find someone who will fit it.
I will keep you posted
Thanks again

Re: Rough cost to convert
I was quoted between £2500 to £3500 for my mid-conversion with leisure battery, split charge unit, EHU, 2 plug sockets, cooker, and sink, vinyl flooring, no fridge.
