fridge
My 12v Waeco Coolmatic blew up on me last summer and I'm just getting round to replacing it. Couldn't believe it's going to cost me up to £650 for something I only use maybe 6 days a year. Can anyone suggest a cheaper replacement that won't be too much trouble to fit?

Re: fridge
I have a Waeco Tropicool which i bought 2nd before getting the Waeco CF18 compressor. Although its a Peltier type and not in the same efficiency league as the compressor fridge its still pretty impressive compared to yer average cheap Peltier type i think and now i have a 100w solar panel i might trial whether it can be used without flattening the LB. I might just get a surprise.bishops wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2017 12:45 pm My 12v Waeco Coolmatic blew up on me last summer and I'm just getting round to replacing it. Yup, they are an expensive bit of kit. More effective and quieter than a cool box and more pleasant than a case of botulism though. if you're not going to replace like for like you will need to consider the size of the hole it's going in.bishops wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2017 12:45 pm My 12v Waeco Coolmatic blew up on me last summer and I'm just getting round to replacing it. Re: fridge
When you say "blew up" there are normally spares available for the compressor unit which is a lot cheaper than replacing the whole unit. Do you know what's gone wrong with it ?

"Now open for business offering a unique drive up service for motor homes and campervans to get their DC compressor fridges and freezers checked, serviced and repaired at Penguin’s premises in Havant, Hampshire. "
Their £36 per hour labour rate's not at all bad either.

There are other specialist Bongo conversion firms who might do the job as well. See the list over on the main Bongo Fury website at https://igmaynard.co.uk/conversions/
