best layout to make room for a portapotty????

Hi
Need a van to carry 2, maybe 4 people and to sleep 1 maybe 2 people. Trying to think how to fit a sink/cooker/fridge unit, one set of rear seats cos they have seat belts, and space for a potty that you could actually get to use if the van was in bedtime mode.

And is it really hard going if you dont have a lifting roof fittted (to save money and cos they are a bit heavy for me to lift up).

I am sure someone on here will have the perfect solution .

Work out how you will sleep and see what rooms left.
The advantage of a Bongo is its compact but then it can be smell in side when you start to look at stuff you need to take with you

Only the manual after market roofs are heavy, get an AFT version if you intend camping even for weekends only, as you will want the extra height.
We find the Portapotti 335, or I think the Cube Portapotti is the same size and will fit - just - at the end of a R&R bed. Give it a cover and its a stool for the kitchen and a step up into the AFT!

I thought of the idea, but a porta potty, is an space luxury.

Hi,

We have a fiamma bi-pot (the smallest one). It fits behind the rear seat. The seat folds into a bed over it no problem and it can be used in the night by folding the seat back forwards a bit.

I honestly can't imagine why anyone would want to do that inside the small confines of a Bongo. At least in a motorhome you have a door and ventilation and an extractor fan. Wouldn't it be just as easy to have a toilet tent outside the van?

On a rear conversion it the 335 or similar sits neatly between the side boxes and can go beneath the bed board. Its the perfect height.

Flip it up and go then back down with the foot board.

As opposed to a porta potty with toilet blue and other stuff sloshing around
try a portable type toilet that uses plastic bags (with additional gelling chemicals and the like)

Since Easter we now use the popaloo and disposa johns (one shot)
easy storage no lingering smells when zipped up after use.
the toilet tent is still the best location when sited, but this is appropriate for travelling or "semi wild" camping.

Thankyou everyone.

I guess the pee in a bush suggestion is good for the men who have a bush near by. For us women its not so easy....especially in the middle of the night at a festival in ankle deep mud with gross portaloos.

I need to find a rock and roll bed that , when down, has a gap big enough between the bed and the front seats for a thetford, or a rear kitchen but then the sleeping is not so comfy.

Some of the Ebay rock and roll bed people will make any size you want.
I feel its worth the effort for your own throne just in case of an emergency

I also agree, Mike...The best place for the loo is in the tunnel that connects to the awning....plenty of airflow!

I've been wondering about this over the last few months actually...here in NZ if you want to be able to do Freedom Camping then you have to be 'Certified - Self Contained' - one of the stipulations is that you need to have an on-board toilet.

My idea was to build a DIY, much smaller scale version of the http://www.doubleback.co.uk... it wouldn't need to be motorised or anywhere near as big.... I thought I could possible use a similar mechanism as one of these - http://www.theuteshop.com.au/index.php?page=trayslides as a starting point... has anyone ever tried or thought about this?
