Hi just about to get a rear conversion for our newly acquired bongo has anyone got one of these units??
We like the one from northstar conversions and Adam has been very helpful.
Any advice would be appreciated..... thanks in advance

Here are some pictures of our rear conversion:
http://mazdabongo.wikispaces.com/Conver ... onversions
It was done by K2 Campers who Adam was involved with for a while (I believe).
Down sides:
- as we kept the middle seats facing forward for the children, we have to fold them and climb to reach the rear...
- we have to sleep on flattened seats, not a rock & roll bed (this takes a bit of time to re-arrange)
Up sides:
- We can cook from inside or out!
- with the, 'gate-leg' benches, we can seat four (2+2 children) around a table
- we can access toilet and fridge from inside or out
- with the back of the middle bench folded forward, there's another table!
It's very cosy for 4, but works for us and makes for a good day van. And it will again - once we get the cam belt sorted .....
Cheers

Re: rear conversion
hi, I have a rear conversion after considering all the options and its the best choice in my opinion, I turned the middle seats round to face the table so seating 5, also you have the width of the van to sleep in got mine off ebay (the outback northstar ) easy to do and fit . mark

Re: rear conversion
We've got a Northstar rear conversion for 2 years now no issues at all with it. Suits us well very good quality. Bought a mattress topper for the bed part which makes it really comfy, did use a double blowup bed for a bit but found it noisy. Like cooking from underneath the tailgate even in the rain. Hope that helps

Re: rear conversion
Just had our first weekend away with the rear conversion from Northstar Conversions. The unit is spot on, well made, looks great and Adam even made it to incorperate our own fridge and two tone colour scheme. Very pleased with the amount of storage within the main unit and side seats. Great being able to cook outside at the back of the camper.
Excellent unit and suits us.........

Re: rear conversion
Hi
We bought a Bongo last year to see how we liked it... Well we love it and now have a newer unconverted one on order!
We currently have a side conversion with rock and roll bed, but we are tempted by the rear conversion this time... My question is, how long is the bed? Hubby is 6'1"... (no problem for me at 5' 3 and a half").
Many thanks
Bumble

Re: rear conversion
Hi Bumble
not sure of the exact length but I'm 6'2" and had no probs with the length..plus you get the full width to sleep.
Hope this helps

Hi mchaskcu and Krispit
I'm so sorry for the delayed reply, I don't seem to be able to log on to the forum from my iPad (it tells me I've logged in successfully but keeps directing me back to the login page when I try to post a reply?) and I haven't been able to get to a PC for a while!
We have decided on the rear conversion (also using Northstar) and we are VERY excited. Thanks for the advice : )
Krispit we will indeed be selling our current side conversion - it's a N plate, AFT, 202,000 km (but still drives great, we love it), 2.5 diesel, 2WD in black. Let me know if you'd like any more details. I'll be giving it a good valet before putting pictures up!
Cheers
