New Head Unit

Post by TheLongRoad » Sun May 06, 2018 6:45 pm

Have added a Pumpkin Double Din head unit to the Bongo. Better sound, sat nav, Blue Tooth to phone, Mazda logo when you turn on and matched light colours to dash. All the usual Adroid apps available. Just got to source a good reverse camera and wire that in. Have a similar unit in the car so I'm well pleased with this upgrade. Don't ask about the wiring as my Bongo must have had various head units in the past and it was a nightmare!

Added one of these too a couple days ago. As you say they're jolly good, am very pleased with it. Fortunately for me the wiring was just a straight plug in job.

I'm using the free Navmii App for the Sat Nav, I've used this in my car and on the phone whilst hiring cars. Works great and best of all is free.

Do you have a link to the one you used? I'm tempted by one.

Here you go. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07 ... UTF8&psc=1 There are others with CD's but I have all my music on either the phone or a micro SD card. Extras if you want them are the rear camera, DAB, and sim card holder if you want a mobile signal to update the traffic on the sat nav. I just use wifi from the house to download Apps and update speed cams.

You'll need the wiring adapter too I used http://www.halfords.com/technology/car- ... lead-mazda in my later model Bongo. :D

PS, This is my second Pumpkin unit and I have found them great for the price. Yes they are Chinese, cheap, but I get on ok with them and the customer support is good. They have a user forum too which helps with questions.

Depending on what you already have fitted you might also need the double din housing in the dash.

Hi guys, I'm looking for a new head unit for my 1996 bongo. The link above isn't working anymore, does anyone have a recommended one?

Tthanks thats mega helpful, just watched a youtube review and looks pretty much perfect.

Does it come with DAB?

Do you need the same halfords kit to install it? Does it need a cradle to intstall?

It looks like it comes with android auto, do you need to plug it in or does it connect via bluetooth? Do you use it or just use the wifi on your phone, I have heard mixed ideas on which way people use it
