Replacing bench seat

Post by thehat » Wed Aug 23, 2017 9:21 am

Hi - new Bongo owner here. Already loving it. But already wondering...

I have a 1998, ie 'facelift' model, unconverted. Is it possible to replace the bench seat at the back with a duplicate of the split middle row? It strikes me this would offer a lot more layout options, without having to go the whole hog of conversion. Anyone done this? Easy/hard? Would it make the bed too uncomfortable?

Thanks!

It is possible but a lot of work. If you want you can ring me and I'll talk you through what's needed :)

I thought the middle and back benches were interchangeable so this would only involve sourcing another middle bench. (Different matter if your back seats were the flip up version rather than the bench version)

me and the mrs had a bongo each, she like you wanted 2 split bench seats so she nicked mine.
easy job, 4 bolts and lift it off the runners.

Well, that sounds encouraging, assuming Mrs Hat likes the idea. Ta!

Bear in mind the middle seat is seriously heavy.

Get a mate to help lift it.
