The variety of setups on these vans never ceases to amaze me it is far more versatile than my old VW but just as thirsty.

I hear horror stories of how thirsty some bongos are, i seem to average about 32mpg which im happy about as its less thirsty than my old civic type R, so i always feel like im saving money haha, what are you getting?

Averaging 32mpg is remarkable. I'll often manage 30-32 mpg on a run in my 2wd and on rare occasions have exceeded 40 mpg by keeping to 60mph max indicated. But running around locally its more like 22-25 mpg.

Mine is a 2.0 ltr petrol. best I get is around 23 mpg on a run and 18-20 round town.
I believe this high and I am aware of a problem with the engine management but have not had the time to get to it.
Well that`s not strictly true cos when I do have the time I go camping instead.

In the end we bought these things for what they could do, not what mpg they could do . But yes i think you should be getting better mpg on a run. Hope the rain returns so you can get it sorted

I used a family friend simon wright repairs in redditch which included bodywork repairs ie rust for 2500 i have no idea if that is a good deal or not as never asked around

May aswell use this post to update ongoing things with my beloved bongo.

with the new year and sun forthcoming (hopefully soon - im a dreamer) and Glastonbury booked amongst many other last minute getaways i remember how often that all the electric pitches had been taken up by other campers that are actually organised.

Admittedly you can get a cheaper 100w flexible panel in white for around £100 but i wanted a black one so i had to pay the premium, plus its made out of better materials so they tell me.

Then bought a reel of 2.5mm2 cable £15 quid, sure this was ebay

and then this MPPT solar charge controller which is a must if you want to bother with making the most out of the energy you produce from the solar panel
