LED Internal Lights

Post by TimC » Wed Jun 03, 2015 12:42 pm

Going back to the old threads on converting the internal lights to LED, has anyone does this recently?

The old links have expired and I'm not sure the products are the same

Ebaying for "36 LED XENON WHITE T10 FESTOON BA9S CAR INTERIOR LIGHT" and a 24 LED panel for the tailgate light brings up loads of options so not sure what is most suitable

Did anyone find a good LED replacement for the main internal tube light and also the AFT light?

Thanks all

This one still seems to be there. Used this on my 95 AFT but think more modern ones require something different?

Did mine a couple of weeks ago...

My post had live links with prices...

http://igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/view ... =1&t=70036

All went very well - the only issue I'm having is some of them get a little bit warmer than I'd like. Most of them were self adhesive so I stuck them on with that but they have dropped and now sit on the plastic. They get hotter when the engine is running (14v instead of 12v) and when plugged into EHU.

For whatever reason the one I put in the roof tent doesn't seem to get hot at all - neither does the one in the tailgate light. The big one in the main light gets hot and so do the 2 I put in the cab.

I was worried about them melting the plastic but I accidentally left one of the cab ones on for about an hour, the plastic was very hot to the touch (made me say ow!) but it hadn't damaged it at all.

I'm going to see if I can make a heatsink for the main one - will probably just be a strip of aluminum to dissipate some of the heat. Not sure what I'll do about the cab ones - might try using the panel I used in the rear light and that should run cooler.
