The body shop is K&B Motors, (http://www.kandbmotors.co.uk/).

Like I said, that's one wing, and repair the other side. I've talked about the possibility of blending the paint rather than doing whole panels to keep the cost down. They want my van for a week so that will make it impractical for a long journey.

Thanks, I'll give them a call. If they get the job I'll have to call on SWMBO to drive in convoy!
Have you seen the posts saying the shape of replacement arch is slightly different (more flared?) from original so best replace both sides to keep bongo balanced?

I have, but who is ever going to look at both sides at once? :-)

Very competitive quote from Simtek in Swindon (recommended by Jillygumbo). Won't be looking any further afield. Just waiting to see how little the MOT hits me next week before booking it in.

Both arches replaced. Inner arches thought to be reasonable. Decals removed on rear panels and sliding door. Both sides resprayed blending upto front doors. £400 +VAT. +replacement arches.

That sounds like a good price, what arches are they using?

Arches will be my purchase. I was planning on Sprinter ones based on reading this forum.

The results. Yes it has taken a while to finish off the 2nd side.
- Sprinter wheel arches bought from fury member Kloonsy. Very quick delivery.
- Body work done by Simtek, Swindon
- New stickers from First Stop Decals
- Removing remaining decals, buffing bongo and sticking on new ones - hard work!!

Original - Jan 2013

Naked, with new arches
Image

Silver skirt done, setting out the waves
Image

Finished o/s March -doesn't seem that long ago
Image

Finished n/s and whole Bongo polished and waxed, phew
Image

We celebrated when the last decal, the dark side on rear window, was completed. phew. Little did I realise polishing that fibreglass roof was going to become a labour of love. Pleased with the result.

Very tidy. It looks like you have the same issue as I faced with the rear of the arch not meeting the bumper line neatly. I solved this by 3D scanning the rear arch area, designing a blended in piece, which I then 3D printed and colour matched. Perhaps I need to start offering these!

Certainly there is a little way to go before bodyshops do their own 3D printing!. The guy in the body shop proudly recounted how when he started he would have to hammer the arch out of flat sheet.

So you paid £400 + VAt for the job?

They may be getting a call soon. (After the summer)

Yes. and I provided replacements arches.
The job isn't perfect but I took the view that on a vehicle this old with rust underneath it was worth keeping the savings for other work.
