Re: Reverse light bulb
Umm not quite sure what is being used here, but any standard lamp to be used on a car is never going to exceed 55 Watts (Main beam headlight) legally, which means it draws 55/12= 4.6 Amps Max. a 10 Amp wire will be more than adequate, but do make sure its automotive grade insulation which is harder and more resilient than insulation used for other purposes where there isn't vibration etc. Most joints these days would be done using crimp joints but soldering is adequate as well.

Thanks for your response Geoff, the light is below;

So it's ok in this instance to use greater ampage wires when joining and what would you expect the reverse light wire ampage to be?

Re: Reverse light bulb
Very similar to what I fitted as a reversing light on my 4x4. I used solder joint with heat shrink. The cables are automotive type of a similar guage to the existing reversing light, Being LED these don't draw a lot of current. Hope this helps.

OK well they are each rated at 12 Watts so each lamp draws 1 Amp each so 2 Amps for the two together, and yes its fine to use a cable rated for a higher current - its actually preferable to do so! I would still stick with something rated at about 10 Amps like this http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/p ... -sq-16-020

We all start as novices. Just keep asking and reading and you’ll get to know your Bongo.

Very true, and many others learn from questions asked and answered on here, even if they choose not to post.
