My bongo came from Japan with a double DIN radio/cdplayer which was ok in itself, but could only get radio 2 and play cd's.
I don't tend to listen to radio,or cd's, instead I was using a radio transmitter to listen to my phone/mp3 player through the radio (and the quality wasn't great).
So noticed a friend had an 'amp' fitted in his car, and plugs his phone straight into it. He offered to fit the same in my bongo, so now I have an amp in the glovebox, excellent sound with no interference and two cubby boxes ordered from ebay and job done

Very neat . Is the fog light in the glovebox so you can turn it into a disco too?
Re: Music pimp/radio alternative
Nope fog light is in glove box waiting for someone else to offer to fit it :p

Great idea... No temptation for wouldbe radio thieves....
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...
Re: Music pimp/radio alternative
The radio loom is pretty close to the amp installation in the glove box...
I'd hazard a guess that an ISO connector was connected to the radio loom, connector that would have been to the back of the radio cut off & the relevant speaker/live/earth wires terminated at the back of the amp giving a little play at the back when the glove box is opened..? The loom secured to the tube that runs the width of the dash..??
The sound source jack following from the between the two cubby boxes though to the back of the amp input...
The monkey in the red shirt an optional extra....
I recently had cause to upgrade my head unit after owning the last one for about 15 years...
I can now charge my tablet & camera & the wife's Kindle on the move too...
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...
