Well the 'bug' is in NZ and were at home in the UK, busy trying to get back down there ASAP.
Insurance is covered by the garage, shouldn't be any hassle. Mike at the garage seems genuine, as said before gut feeling works best.
9 mths to go, sad to be counting down already after returning.

Cheers to all

I realise that my input comes many months after this business of Bongos in NZ. My experiece of Bongo type vehicles there was, that the preferred type was a Toyota Hiace. It is six years since Betty and I spent a month touring there, and towards the end of our trip we saw a Hiace, recently overhauled and in good order, on offer for $1200 NZ dollars, the exchange rate at the time was $3.46 NZ to the £! If I had spotted it at the beginning of our trip I would have bought it.

Best Wishes,

walter.

Hi Mike,

I would only have bought the Hiace for the duration of our stay. Apparently it's common practice for visitors to buy a vehicle if they are visiting for a month two, and then sell it on. I met several couples that were travelling round NZ. They have a very good vehicle testing service in NZ and there appears to be a number of folks ready and waiting to buy or sell, you obviously don't have to be on a tight schedule.

Regards,

Walter.

I'm heading back over to NZ soon, looking forward to just driving around, stopping and enjoying the next 6 months. Mine in storage at Katikati in a local garage, so it'll be all serviced and ready to hit the road. :P

Even ordered a couple of small bits from this site to take over NZ as a present for it.

Hello to all the kiwis and those living in NZ. I am in OZ but NO OZ section as of yet!! so im highjacking yours!! Conversion in Australia is under construction!! :D
Most of the appliances and woodwork has been bought and floor is down ready for the next step of wiring!!
Having to import a PMS 3H from the u.k as there does not seem to be much in the way of combination systems here! #-o 1
People generally use seperate charger/transformer 240 to 12v/ consumer unit and switch panel..
Me i like the complete PMS 3H system..
Luckily have a mate going to the u.k in 2 weeks to saveon shipping of the unit.. =D>
I am going to make my own bed frame..
The requirements are quite strict here...you must have rear head rests in the back if your having ) seat belts and the hinges and runners and seat in eneral should be able to withstand 100kg of presure(hence in an accident) #-o

Pictures will be taken throughout the build...

Happy bongoing!!! from chiefster!!!!
