The timing belt on a V6 is normally changed every 5 years and/or 60,000 Km I think are the figures. I've had it done twice in the 12 years so far on mine.

Gladly, the AA have confirmed that they’ll recover the vehicle to the UK. I’m keen to see a report on the damage.

Out of interest, should timing belt have been checked as part of the full service & MOT I paid for quite handsomely prior to setting off? Seems like a waste of time and money now when aux belts were changed & a range of other parts.

No, the cam belt is not an MoT item, nor an annual service item, and it can't be 'checked'. We need to ask the garage to do it when we want.

Schedule as Geoff says.

Okay, thank you for the input - I very much appreciate the contributors on here taking the time to respond.

I’ll go searching for recommended Bongo garages in/near Dorset

There is a list of Bongo Savvy garages in the Members' Area.

Can't think of one in Dorset, but the list will likely show one.

Let's hope Bongy is fixed up soon. 8)
