Post by lady camper » Wed Jun 12, 2013 9:48 pm

Hi all,

we are off to france and I am trying to book a couple of campsites...
what do I book, a camping car? Or a car and a tent?
Any advice appreciated.

European campsites usually just book by the pitch, they don't really care what you put on it.

In French "Camping car" is a motorhome, usually fully self contained and they may assume you don't need to be near toilets and showers.

Car and tent (do you use a tent as well as the Bongo?) will usually have you located in with the campers.

But as said many places don't worry either way. If car and tent is cheaper, book that.

Just back from 5 weeks and 4750km in France...just ask for an emplacement for camping car/electricity or not/ if you want leccie make sure you either go on sites with the correct plug outlets or carry a converter french to (your) euro socket.
