41 electric and 2 non-electric pitches left. Please note we are not open today as we have gone camping in the rain.

This meeting isn't proving to be as popular as it has been in the past. I don't know if this is down to over-familiarity, bad weather, problems with taking children out of school, or a combination of the above. In any case we will be returning 15 pitches to the campsite next Wednesday if they remain unsold. We will still keep 10 back for late bookings.

Hi Ian,

Maybe a change of venue for future South West meets.
Any suggestions from anyone?

Have now returned 20 pitches to the campsite. We have just 4 places left to fill.

As to future years, I have already booked Camping Caradon for 2020 but have reduced it to 55 electric and 5 non-electric pitches. I would be interested in hearing suggestions for 2021 perhaps on the North Devon coast as it's somewhere the club has never visited.

Crabbing competition. Jayne Newsome (crabber of the year 2018) can't make it this year. Nor can Baz who normally organizes this. And nor can I as going to Polperro on the Saturday.

I have the trophy, and I have this year's prizes. All we need now is someone to organize it. Any volunteers?

Shame this year we didn’t know about the crabbing event and it and it just seemed to be the ‘chosen few’ who we’re in the know. A presentation was held in the evening but we didn’t even know about the event. We’re still newbies this is only our second event, everyone was friendly and we met some lovely people ,however it would be nice to maybe have more of a get together planned that’s organised by the club as it is meant to be a bongo fury event. We would definitely have taken part in crabbing at the least.

We didn't make this one, but sorry you felt left out.

Great you met some friendly faces so please give us another try.

We really don't do little cliques or chosen few, just individuals can't be all over.

If you can make Eastnor this w/e ot Stourport next June I'll PM you my mobile so we can meet up and make some introductions.

But do just chat, we're a friendly rabble.

Edit: Bishop's Lidyeard in a couple of weeks, too.

It's true that the crabbing event could have been better organised, but this was due to a number of factors. Firstly the person who usually organizes it (Baz) wasn't able to make it this year due to a hospital appointment, and nor could the current holders due to work. Plus, because of local education authority crack downs, there were very few children on site this year and we rely on them to spread the word. So at the last moment myself and Marianne went round the site on Friday night telling as many as we could where and when to congregate. But we obviously missed out a few people, probably because we were distracted as we were also selling BBQ tickets at the same time.

Apologies; we will be more on the ball at the next club meeting at Horam Manor.
