Trip to Italy

If you are going away somewhere and don't mind meeting up with other Bongo owners or if you've been somewhere & want to tell us about it & stick up your photos, put the details here.

Trip to Italy

Post by AdamJamesT » Sat Jun 13, 2015 9:55 pm

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone had traveled to or around Italy before and could give me any info on where is best to visit (campsites or towns+cities) in or around Italy. Any advice is appreciated, Thanks!

I hope so! The furthest I've driven before was to Austria in a small Astra with a tent so I'm hoping for a bit more comfort this time!!

I lived in Italy, and we are taking the Bongo there in 2 weeks :-)

Places to go depends on your tastes but a few of my faves:

1) Northern Italy - eat all the meat you can! "Griglia/Grigliata" means a BBQ - always unmissable. If you end up anywhere near Valdobiadinne (where prosecco comes from - the real prosecco) message me and I'll tell you about the most amazing secret vineyard self service/honesty box bar/terrace with views to die for (but it's a secret!).
2) Rome - is a must see
3) As is Pompei and Herculaneum near by.
3) Tuscany - you MUST go to St gimignano
4) Florence - amazing city - Go up inside the dome and onto the roof at Duomo.

A few things that spring to mind.

There was a convoy of Bongos went to Italy some years back and had a great time. MissFixit (Kirsty) was one who went, can't remember who else, but have a search of old posts.
