I had a reply from http://www.sykeside.co.uk/index.htm regarding Winter camping........
They say that they usually on allow groups of 6 BUT are willing to make an exception during the Low season........Now the rate is £17 per night... ....and they wont go lower but that has leccy and hardstanding......and.... there is a pub/restaurant on site too as a bonus
SO..... who wants to camp? and when....?
I was kind of thinking of late January/February before the Half Term and far enough from Christmas......Kind of a "Blow away the cobwebs" meet.....

Wicked Winter Camp - Sykeside 11/12/13 Feb 2011
Yes it's on........
Sykeside have agreed to our stay Friday 11th to Sunday 13th February 2011......
Location
The nights of the 11th and 12 the February is fine, I have placed a provisional booking for 10 pitches for your group. We will require a deposit of £15.00 per pitch, this would be due 6 weeks before your stay by Friday 31st December 2010. The outstanding balance can then be paid on arrival to the site. If possible it is easiest if 1 person can collect the deposit, we can accept a cheque or credit card payment over the phone (not American Express).
I have allocated you 10 pitches together, however when looking at your pictures I realised that I had not checked with you how many awnings there will be. There is no charge for an awning during low season, however only 5 of our pitches have suitable space next to them. The other pitches are fine with wind-outs or porches, however full sized awnings can be a bit of a squeeze.
Now as you can see, they have reserved 10 of their 19 Hardstands for us - With electric but we don't get a group discount so it's £17 per night ...... They have asked for a £15 deposit each, which I am happy to collect, to be with them by the end of December 2010.......So the price on arrival will be £19.....
Also the e-mail asks about awnings....... and they do say (after a call) that the 5 "small" pitches will take Quechua bases or windouts and the "larger" plots full size awnings.
The site has a Pub/Restaurant so of you don't want to cook.....but I guess it could also be an evening meeting place while the Bongo's are being kept warm....
Anyone wishing to come then PM me for my address so you can send your deposit for me to pass on to Sykeside
There are 9 more hardstands plus for Caravan club members a 5 plot CL site too, if more than 10 are needed then I will ask Sykeside to allocate us some more, but I guess we need to commit to this fairly soon, latecomers will either have to be CC members or have a grass pitch with no leccy
Confimed so far for this are;-
Mikexgough - wind-out awning - deposit paid

Sykeside is super. Went there 2 years ago and it's
a lovely setting. Showers lovely and warm and good
pub. Spitfire passed us on one mountain and a jet
on top of High Street. Terrific!
