First long trip in the Bongo

Post by bongo frenzee » Wed Aug 04, 2010 10:05 pm

I've had Boris Bongo for nearly 2 months now, and we've just returned from our first long (6 day) trip away, to Scotland via the Lakes. I thought I'd share a few photos and campsite recommendations with you all.

On Weds 28th June we headed for Wasdale and stayed for 2 nights at the Church Stile campsite in Nether Wasdale. This is a lovely site surrounded by fells and woodland.

We had planned to climb Scafell Pike but the cloud was very low so we had a wander round Wast Water and took in Britain's Favourite View (TM) of the fells at the head of the lake:

We had to run the gauntlet of this lot to get to the pub!

On the 30th we headed up to Perth and Gallowhill Farm, the campsite used for the T in the Park festival, which was basic but nice. Again we were surrounded by lovely hills:

Our return on the 1st Aug was via Ullswater, one of my favourite spots in the Lakes. We stayed at Gillside, again among the fells:

We couldn't resist climbing Glenridding Dodd, the fell in the background, for a view of the site from above. Sadly Boris is hidden behind a tree!

The views over the lake were spectacular despite the low cloud:

Finally we had the fun drive home over the Kirkstone Pass, which Boris tackled with ease - I even got to try out the L gear!

We had a great trip and are looking forward to the next one!
