If you are going away somewhere and don't mind meeting up with other Bongo owners or if you've been somewhere & want to tell us about it & stick up your photos, put the details here.

Not sure about the Northern Lights yet. June came across an article which said that the next time they make an appearance will be in 2011, more reseach needed as to the best time to go. So far I have looked into the ferries and found that from Scrabster (Nr Thurso) to Stromness on Orkney Islands is relatively inexpensive, but from Kirkwall on Orkney Islands to Lerwick on Shetland Islands costs quite a bit. Hopefully by that time all Scottish ferries will be using "Road Equivalent Milage Fares" which should bring them down a bit. Surprisingly I found that the Shetland inter island ferries are council opperated and are free apart from one which costs £8.00 return to use, so it should cost us nothing to get to the northernmost islands were we should be able to wild camp for a few days waiting for the lights to appear. You need a place with no light polution to see them at their best.

Found the article and it seems that I got the year wrong, I am one year too early.

If we've time to do Harris & Lewis we might see if they'll let us add on the extra crossing.
Apparently there's been a lot of bleating in the local press about the number of white buses cluttering up the wilderness, all this wild-camping may soon be much more difficult to do.
Yes most laws and other restrictions are only the result of bad behavior by a few, but the many end up getting clobbered.
More details HERE

We were proud of the way we left all our sites as we found them, even collected litter others had left. Sadly not everyone has the same idea of camping - there were dead disposable barbecues, remains of fires etc which will only spoil things for everyone else. :(

We did get some good weather, we also got a few bad days, but that's to be expected.

Next trip not planned yet - we're open to suggestions

Possible, although Mrs Muz has always been nervous of going there ever since we considered going in the early nineties in a green Land-Rover :?

the guy mrs muz was enjoying at the games is Bruce Robb from Rosyth, really great guy and super friendly, not as good now as in 07/08 as he picked up a bad injury in the USA when competing.
By the way super photos, the wife and I are just back from our 3rd stint in the highlands and heading back up on friday for more highland games and hospitality

Congratulations on your anniversary, and what a great place to spend it. :D

Outstanding photos as always. Theres plenty of castles around Caithness and Sutherland if you do come this far North.

"Coast", BBC2 8 pm, tonight: "Inner Hebrides to the Faroe Islands*".

*(Why oh why did Smyril Line discontinue the Scrabster to Torshavn run?!!!!)

Apparently, in tonight's programme "Kate Rew hunts for the bone-eating snot flower" - it's true, and obviously not to be missed!
