Rattle and sliding door inner handle removal

Post by TheLongRoad » Fri Aug 06, 2021 7:13 am

My Bongo has a rattle, well lots, but one is really annoying. Passenger side and sounds like metal on metal. I’ve emptied the tool area thinking it might have been the spare wheel winder. I’ve removed passenger door card and put foam around anything and everything inside that door. Now I need to get into the sliding door. The handle doesn’t look obvious as to how that comes off to allow the sliding door card to be removed. Any suggestions?

I’m going to check out the engine bay on that side as well but it really sounds like something inside either door.

Some rattling is part of the character but some are just annoying 🙄

To get the handle off, push the door panel back and then hook out the "C" clip at the back of the handle, take care its likely to ping off and get lost! Put it straight back into the handle ready for pushing the handle back on later.

Thanks for the info on the handle and caution regarding the c clip pinging off and never to be seen again (been there done that one).

If you've got an old sheet, or similar, it's worth putting down where you're working if there's tiny bits likely to fly off.

EG: Replacing the aerial.

Got the rattle sorted. It was the metal rod that links the lock button to the mechanism where you put key in. Now wrapped with pipe foam. Thank goodness that’s sorted it was getting beyond a joke. Hope this helps others. :)
