Bongo not running well (V6)

Post by Quiksilver » Sun Jun 27, 2021 2:28 pm

I have a 2002 V6 which isn’t running very well. When cools it is fine but when it warms up it starts missing. I have changed the coil, fuel filter, distributor cap, rotor arm, plugs and leads and this hasn’t made any difference.

When it is warm and you rev the engine, there is a slight pause before the revs increase - almost like the van is breathing in or catching its breath before it responds.

I am not sure what to check next - any ideas?

The garage struggled to get their diagnostic reader to connect to the van so they don’t have any feedback about what is happening when the bongo is running. Has anybody else had trouble with the diagnostics?

Have you tried running the vehicle with the fuel cap loose or off?

Recently had my V6 engine changed and the some what similar but not identical problem when first tried, it was resolved by checking ignition system and particularly spark gaps and also the BAC valve which controls the air intake volume according to coolant temperature 20-990 on the diagram http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... o=.html#17

Oh V6 isn’t running well either. On way to a site yesterday and all power went, engine stopped and charger and oil lights came on. Restarted and stopped…had limp the last half mile to the campsite.

We’ve also just had the engine changed
Anyone any ideas???

Any more details ?
Why was the engine changed ?
How long time and distance travelled since engine change ?
Does time and or temperature effect the problem ?
Does it start easily?

My issue seems to be time related. The van runs for about 20 minutes and then starts missing. It only misses at 2200 to 2700 rpm. Up to the 20 minute mark the van runs fine but feels a C little underpowered.
