Strange engine sound? "ffut-ffut-ffut" etc

My petrol v6 Bongo has started making a new noise, sort of a continual 'fut-fut' from the engine when driving or ticking over. This isnt the usual happy ticking sound. It passed its MOT and was serviced a couple of months ago with no issues. I'll drop it into our garage, but was interested in what this might be.

Performance of the engine seems ok, and there's nothing else obviously wrong. Just this new sound - not unpleasant, but definitely unusual!
