Rear indicator not working (it’s not the bulb!)
My passenger side rear indicator light isn’t working. The light on the dash is flashing at double speed, which is what drew my attention to it. I’ve changed the bulb, and it’s still not working (frustrating as I was on my way to having a much needed day out☹️). A bit of searching tells me it could be the earth, but my knowledge stops at changing the bulb. Is this something that I can fix myself - and in that case can you talk me through it - or do I need to book it in with my mechanic? Thank you!

Take it to your garage, trying to talk/type you thru it is going to be arduous without using a meter or knowing the year and engine type etc.

Thanks Geoff, it’s a ‘96 diesel, and that was what I thought you might say - but I hoped there might be a way for me to sort it.

You can check the state of the wiring to the lamp connector, the Black wires are the earth connections, normally however if its the earth then several lamps at the rear won't be working unless its the local connection to the lamp socket.

Thanks Geoff, I’ll take a look, and failing that she’ll be off to the garage!

If you remove the lamp you could try making a temporary earth with a length of wire, should prove one way or t'other.
Let's hope is a simple fix.
