12v fridge fault

Post by AndyHeard » Sun Feb 28, 2021 1:34 pm

Hi guys.

Just looking for a little help with a 12v fridge issue.

Fridge is a DC50 12v compressor from MagnumMotorHomes, it's a cheaper version of a waeco ish. Just over 12 months old.

Fridge doesn't seem to want to fire up and when it does it only does so very briefly.
At the same time as it cuts out a small red light starts to flash on the small circuit board at the back near the compressor.

I've measured 12.69V at the fridge so no voltage issues.

The fridge is pulling 0.76ma when off.

And when you do turn it on the impedance bounces around all over the shop, from 0.7 to 3.0 to 7.0 and all in between etc. Even before the compressor has kicked in.

Any ideas?

What is the voltage when the fridge tries to kick in ? The standing voltage might be 12.7 but under load if it falls to 11v then the fridge will drop out again.

Under the initial load it drops to 12.3 so not anywhere near thur voltage cut off.
