Quick release oil sump plug

Post by jsforest1991 » Mon Jan 18, 2021 3:14 pm

Hi,

Has anyone ever fitted an quick release oil sump plug? I have a 1996 2.5 diesel I bought last year. I changed the oil when I got it and was thinking of doing every 5000 kilometers. Hence trying to make it as easy as possible.

Thanks

Not fitted a plug, but I use a Pela Pump for the intermediate oil change.

Some will say it doesn't get every last drop out, but it'll do for me. 8)

Quick release plugs are ok, just watch the ground clearance Pela pumps might be handy for ATF if no plug but I dont rate them for engine oil change, it takes seconds to remove the SP.

Hi, this is what I've used on my Land Rover before now...

https://www.difflock.com/drain-plug-m14-x-1-5-t11-5

Coupled with this makes oil changing not only quick but you can do it whilst wearing your whitest shirt!

Does anyone know the thread size and pitch?

For anyone searching this -

Searching for the thread size kindly provided I searched eBay and found it fits an MX6
