HI Everyone.
Hope I get some help sorting out this problem, please.
The Bongo is a 1997 2.5 Turbo Diesel.
It passed its MOT 2 weeks ago.
I can start the engine up without any problems. Left in park the engine will run fine. I can rev the engine up to 2000rpm without problems.
When I take my foot of the accelerator, the engine drops down to about 750rpm idle. Once the engine has reached it's normal operating temperature.
When I press on the accelerator, the revs go up as expected, but when I lift off the accelerator, the revs either drop down to 500rpm or stalls out.
The warmer the engine gets the more likely it is to stall. It tends to stall out more as I'm braking.
Dropping it in to Neutral can sometimes stop it from stalling.
If I stop the engine and leave it for a minute or 2. It will start up and idle ok, but still has the same problem if I increase the revs above Idle.
I've checked all the oil, coolant, atf , levels and the batter voltage is OK
Thanks in advance for any help
James

Throttle position sensor needs adjusting perhaps?

Hello, I had the exact same symptoms. What it was in the end was the fuel pump seals. They wear out and start to suck little bits of air in and causes that cutting out when slowing to junctions etc. You can sort of save it from cutting out by accelerating again, but it's a bit risky isn't it? I had my fuel pump reconditioned and it has not happened again.

Thanks for the note regarding the fuel pump. I hadn't even considered that, I thought it would be a problem with the throttle system, or the automatic choke closing after the engine came up to temperature.
