Banjo Filter

Post by Tombo » Mon Nov 30, 2020 9:43 pm

I went to clean the banjo filter on my 2000 drive by wire diesel, there isn't one in there. I was helpfully directed to some fuel pump diagrams and it seems like the drive by wire pump doesn't have a filter but the pre 2000 diesels did.
Can anyone confirm this and why they would not continue fitting them? Maybe another filter somewhere else?
Anyway, it might be worth updating the factsheet on this - I've got one coming in the post 😂

Is the Banjo joint still there but no filter fitted ? Its quite common for people to damage them in getting them out!

Thanks, that's what I had read but have a look at these diagrams. Maybe the diagrams aren't conclusive though. Here's the pump including the filter:

And here's the drive by wire pump:

However I've also just seen the earlier pump diagram and that doesn't show the filter either so I'm confused. Maybe I'll put one in after all.

On the later model Bongo they do not have a filter/strainer on the IP.

Thanks Rita, I'll leave it as it is then. How did you find that out?

Hi all,
New to Bongos. Just planning to change my fuel filter on my 1999 facelift 2.5td Bongo. I have also got a new Banjo filter and spring.
Not 100% sure where this is located on my van.
Has anyone got photos they can post of the bolt I need to in screw please?
Many Thanks

I've just tried to order some more Banjo filters and springs from our supplier but have been told the manufacturers have given a date of 4 to 6 months for delivery and will only re-manufacture if I order 200 of them. We currently have 1 filter and 4 springs left.

I have the Bosch and Zexel part numbers for these components. But does anyone have the Mazda part number? I can't seem to find it on Lush.
