Water ingress along top edge of tailgate lights?

Post by Mrs Feynmans Bongos » Sat Sep 05, 2020 3:38 pm

Looks like the original seal has failed along top edge of my tailgate lights.
After rain there's condensation within the lenses, after heavy rain I have to drain it out  (see pic)

I have a DIY sealant gun, propose to run that along the joint, but not sure which compound to use.
Would domestic clear bathroom sealant do the job, or not advisable eg as it cracks in frost, or is there something better/automotive?
Also, would it be best to remove or loosen the lighting strip, or to wedge open the joint?
Advice appreciated.

That's quite some leak! I've used Captain Tolley's to some good effect. had a VW T25 before Bongo life and they are notorious for leaks around windscreens etc. you may need to build it up with several applications if the crack is bad.
