Post by john14.6 » Sat Mar 28, 2020 1:47 pm

Hi all,

We have an mot booked in for monday, and have noticed the reverse light dont work, i have checked and the bulbs are working [led],
What else shoud i be looking for?

Also not as important but the blinds on the drivers side wont come down - only go up on the motor.

kind regards

The blind is likely to be dirty contacts in the switch.

Geoff has posted a video on how to clean them. It's likely about the AFT switch, but they're identical.

Reversing light, check there's power to the light fitting, then check the cluster is earthed well, fuse next, I guess.

Thanks Bob for your reply, i had already checked what you had recomended. after much fafing and blowing a fuse, i have traced it back to the switch on the gearbox which is faulty.

I dont have enough time to locate and fit a new one before tomorrows mot,,, and after calming down and a little prayer i checked the gov website and it seem you dont need reverse lights on a car before 09 anyway,,,,

So hopefully im good to go,

Thanks again Bob, [do you have link to the cleaning the switch video]

kind regards
