Help with rear brake callipers

Post by Gandalf The White » Wed Mar 11, 2020 6:20 pm

Hi, new member here, so go easy with me. I have a 2002 Bongo 2.5L diesel 2WD. I'm looking for a replacement set of rear brake callipers for both back wheels. My local mechanic who services and repairs it advised me not to just buy the kits for replacing the seals, but to replace the whole unit. I'm pretty certain that they are different part numbers for each side.

Can anybody please give me the part numbers, advice on where to purchase from, recommended sellers with a good reputation etc?

Many thanks in advance :)

Hello
I have recently serviced my MR2 brakes using kits from http://biggred.co.uk they were very helpful and sell parts and calipers for all makes of vehicles. Might be worth contacting them for calipers

I had a slider pit sheared off in the Caliper of my car brakes Replacement Calipers were an eye watering £300 each

These folks https://www.bcs-automotive.co.uk/brake- ... nt/brembo/provided an excellent service, they removed the sheared pin, fitted new pins to both Calipers, serviced and replaced all the seals, finished with a nice gun metal protective coating. Paid a little under £175 for both calipers refurbished and posted back to me. Oh yes 12 month warranty plus I believe they were pressure tested to ensure they were 100% ok Wouldn’t hesitate if the Bongo brakes required work.

I’ve also bought parts from Big Red who are great at cross referencing part numbers. This can save a lot of money too.

I suspect the mechanic can’t be bothered as replacing seals is not the most pleasant job.
