Have had my Bongo five years now and have not carried out any maintenance on the gearbox, save for checking the level.
The fluid still is cherry coloured and does not smell.
Is it recommended to change this out as a preventative maintenance item? Is there a filter for the gearbox also? Would any gearbox place be up for that, or is it bongo-specific?
I'm in two minds whether to get it looked at or to leave well alone - it's not causing any issues.

Re: Gearbox Service
Never really heard of any required maintenance provided the ATF fluid stays cherry red!
Nothing mentioned in the manual http://www.g8dhe.net/bongo_images/gearbox/RC4AEL.pdf relating to maintenance either.

Re: Gearbox Service
If the fluid is as you say I would leave it well alone. Read around this and some say for a auto gb ATF change around 45-60K miles, or if the mileage has gone above and beyond with no change of fluid and there are no issues and the fluid is a nice red colour etc leave it be.

I'm at about 190,000km. I have some history going back about 8 years, van is a 96 but no record of anything related to the gearbox.
