1996 Mazda Bongo Steering problem

Post by garywalden40 » Sun Jan 19, 2020 4:25 pm

Hi All

I bought a 1996 Mazda Bongo last year and its always had an issue with the steering... the problem it when im turning a corner left or right at about half way i get a kick.back.on the steering wheel.... going straight or fully left or right it doesnt happen. The garage i bought the vehicle from changed the rack and it did make small improvement but still noticable.

I was wondering if any of you had had a similar problem and could offer some advice. The vehicle has 18 inch mazda rx8 alloys which loom good but im.wndering if id be better replacing them with 16 inch steel rims as they could be adding to the problem

Many thanks.in advance

Check the two universal joints in the steering column one inside the cabin and the other one on the other side of the firewall;

Did your garage check the struts for bind and the steering geometry Is the vehicle 2wd or 4wd.
