Fuel gauge light

Post by Bongofamily » Tue Jan 14, 2020 9:55 pm

The light on the right of my instrument cluster is a bit temperamental. It comes on sometimes my lights are on but not at other points. Weirdly it is either on or off for a journey, not flickering on or off which means that my original idea that it is a loose connection seems less likely. Is it in some way also a battery charge indicator as it seemed to be on when I had the main battery replaced. It also kicked in this week on the return leg of a longer run. I have some bulbs on order anyway and when they arrive I will try and get the cluster apart again and clean the contacts/replace the bulb.

Hi Ya, any chance you could let us know what image is shown on it, or is it just a light that's been added DIY?

It might be worthwhile putting an earth strap on the fuel tank.

Thanks for replies - it’s not an empty warning light JulesMartin it’s the light behind the normal fuel gauge pointer.

I will look to see if the fuel tank is earthed at the weekend, I guess that would make sense in terms of tech diagnosis.
