Windscreen wiper arm length

Post by DennisC » Sat Dec 21, 2019 6:11 pm

I have tried to find the info about the length of the actual wiper arms for the front windscreen. Even with the correct length blades, the drivers side blade still overlaps the top of the screen by about 140mm. Does anyone know the correct arm length.

I fitted a new driver's side wiper a few weeks ago.

16 inch. Bought it in Lidl expecting it to be in a metric size which I had measured in anticipation. That's Europe for you!

Welcome to forum DennisC. It’s dark and cold outside but I’m happy to measure the arms tomorrow.

Blades are 24 driver, 16 pass, 17 rear.

Surely the longer one is on the passenger side?

Unfortunately I'm not near the van at the moment so can't check either!

So is it a case that the arm(s) have been changed out and not the standard Friendee ones or that your not sure of the Blade lengths ?

Blades are;
16″ Passenger
24″ Drivers
17″ Rear

Looks like I've got it the wrong way round.

Can't wait to go and look but I'm not on line again until I next come to a WiFi cafe!

I think he’s asking about the arm length not the blades. I’ll measure mine tomorrow

Its quite common for people to fit the blades in the wrong positions ;-)

Drivers side - 60 cm arm onto which 24 inch blade should be fitted.
Passenger side - 77 cm arm onto which 16 inch blade should be fitted.

Got it!

It's the arm that's longer on the passenger side, not the blade!

What I really like about this forum is that people don't generally post duff information!

Happy Christmas!

Thank you all for your help. It looks as if wipers have been reassembled wrong prior to me buying the camper.
Once again thank you, and all of you have a Merry Christmas and an Enjoyable New Year. DennisC
