Broken down

Post by Debs and David » Sun Sep 15, 2019 12:55 pm

Been camping at Derwent View this weekend. Left campsite about an hour ago, van seemed under power, when climbing hill pressed hold button but van stayed in same gear, got to top of hill, coming down other side the hold light was flashing 3 or 4 times, engine cut out, luckily rolled to a lay-by. Now it won’t start but it doesn’t sound normal on trying to start. Sat in lay-by on remote Penine moors waiting for AA recovery.

We have a 2L petrol btw.

Any thoughts that might help mechanic/recovery man?

Thanks :?

Can't help technically, but the 2 litre doesn't have any quirks so hopefully your breakdown chap will be fine.

Good luck. 8)

Bad luck. Sounds most like an engine management thing but hopefully AA man will have thoughts. Is yours new enough to have a plug in diagnostics port? Like Bob say, the 2l is supposed to be the least complex so hopefully it'll be sorted without scary cost. Fingers crossed for you, and keep us posted [-o<

Battery, charging issue, alternator, would be my first thoughts.

Thanks Ady but battery is still as power but when turning the key its just the starter motor thats turning ,AA man said sounds like there is no compression and didn.t go any further than that and just loaded it up.I fear its not going to be a good out come. So i have posted in the Techie section and not the Comedy section for some its all about the numbers
