Re: overheating issue
Did whoever replaced the water pump know how to bleed a Bongo ? Sounds as though that was the start of the overheating problems.

Re: overheating issue
I hope your Mazda garage know about Bongo cylinder heads and have done a few before, £1000 is very cheap for a main dealer garage to do the job.

I was concerned similarly. Need to make sure also that a good quality head is fitted - i've read there are some cheap (chinese?) ones out there.haydn callow wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2019 10:30 am I hope your Mazda garage know about Bongo cylinder heads and have done a few before, £1000 is very cheap for a main dealer garage to do the job.
Re: overheating issue
I doubt very much that it's a "MAIN DEALER" that is going to undertake this work. They usualy shy away from old jalopies ,unless they are desperate

Re: overheating issue
Haydn probably just means one of the main places/dealers for Bongos. Whilst you're here, with your knowledge of these things, what do you reckon would be a realistic price for a good quality job and how would it be best to ensure only a proper quality reolacement head is fitted?

Re: overheating issue
I got my replacement head from Bongo Spares. They're in Halifax. Came with all gaskets needed, new bolts, camshaft fitted, valves in with new guides. Runs lively so far. It's a recon. Cost £310.mikeonb4c wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 2:33 pmHaydn probably just means one of the main places/dealers for Bongos.
