Bongo failed the MOT, for various reasons, had to be welded etc, and more brake pipes done. One brake pipe am told ran over the fuel tank, therefore the mechanic had to slightly drop the tank. NOW discover the fuel guage on dash, is reading inccorectly, (not full when it is, never had this prob. before) and we can`t right this error, by shaking Bongo etc. Been back to garage and they say fuel sensor is on top of tank, there are baffles in tank and it should not have been affected by the drop and there was before conversion, mechanic saw underneath there must have been some trap door inside cab to veiw the fuel tank from the bongo interier (we don`t know this), and its been suggested its been covered with the camper conversion units, and only way to view or deal with fuel sensor is to drop the tank again or and put in a new sensor.
1. Anyone any ideas what could of happened to fuel sensor.
2. Any idea what is going on here, or if there was a trap door in these Bongos to view the top of fuel tank.
Please can anyone help????

Re: Fuel Sensor
Have you tried the standard problem of a bad earth on the tank ? Connect a cable to the tank itself and connect to chassis, you can try a jump cable to prove it. There are already suitable holes around the lip of the tank seam to add a permanent wire.

Here's an extract from the "Fuel Gauge Sender Unit" factsheet in the members area:
"The Bongo’s fuel tank panel (hatch), which allows access to the fuel gauge sender, is located under the carpet on the driver’s side, midway between the middle and rear seats. The fuel gauge sender itself can be found under the panel, on top of the fuel tank. In order to access this, slide the rear seats as far back as possible and the middle seats as far back as possible. Then pull up the carpet (a sharp tug should do it says the Bongo Nurse)! This allows access to the panel (see photo)."

This should help you or your garage in the future,as been said there are holes on the lip of some tanks but a wee fresh hole wont do any harm.

Re: Fuel Sensor
Thanks folks..
The problem is, Ian, there is no carpet for me, it is converted.......just looked, and unscrewed, the bottom panel is inside in the cupboard, next to fridge, just taken bottom panel out and there is a vent, (yippee you would think NO) taken out and can`t get the bottom, bottom panel out to view the tank top it goes right under the units and cross members. The Bongo converters have built the units over the access panel.
This is why, supposidly the garage mechanic dropped the fuel tank.
Tried to insert picture no good at it...
