Hi, we have had our Bongo for about a year and only recently started experiencing a problem.
We have a severe juddering when we get to 50 mph when automatic gearbox is under load. It doesn't happen at lower speeds. The noise is coming from the gearbox area and gets worse when you increase the revs on the throttle.
The garage thought it was the prop shaft so we paid for that to be changed, which didn't fix the problem. They also changed the drive shaft, but we still have the same problem. They are now saying its a gearbox/clutch problem and we need to take it to a specialist company. The Bongo was manufactured in 1999 and is the 2500cc Diesel 4WD (SGL5) model.
Does anyone have any ideas? We live down in Kent and would love to hear from anyone who know a reliable garage that can help us.
Regards Jim

Welcome aboard.
Forum member Alacrity is an auto box specialist, web site here:

He's in Sussex and very well thought of on here.
I'm not sure if driving the Bongo will cause more damage so I'd call or e mail then pay for recovery if recommended.
Good luck.

Welcome to the site Jim. The guys at Freelance Mazda in Chatham seem to know their Bongo's, I only used for MOT and general service but I know they get a few Bongo's through and the owner (Mark, I think) filled me with confidence
