Roof rack or bars for Bongo Friendee 2004

Post by wrocket » Thu Jun 20, 2019 10:01 am

Can anyone help with the above request? My Bongo has a fixed roof. There is a rain gutter, but the roof is about 4 inches above the gutter and most
roof bar side pieces arent tall enough. What did other folk do?

Where are you based

I’m thinking of selling my Thule aero bars as I simply don’t use them

I’m a regular metal tin top

I think the problem will be lateral stability when you have that extra height, you will need extra plates at the top to brace the cross members in order to stop them swaying side to side.

OK, thanks for the warning about stability.
I only want the rack so I can transport a long ladder a few miles across town: it wont be a fixture

I still have a set. Fixed to gutter and high enough to clear auto freetop we had. We used for carrying canoes as didn't want weight on fibreglass roof. Make is Thule
