V6 oil level

Post by Gripped » Sat Jun 15, 2019 6:53 pm

So I serviced the V6 bongo (oil and filter).

Put it on front wheel ramps to drain it, removed the oil filter, and left it a good while for the sump to drip.

Filled with the required 5 litres of oil.

However, the dip stick was well over the full mark. So I've ended up sucking out the best part of a litre with the pela pump !
Now it is bang on the full mark (level ground).

This means that it must have retained a significant amount of oil in the sump.

Just wondered if anyone else noticed this during servicing? I am assuming that when tilted on ramps, it must retain some oil in the sump.

Next time I might just use the Pela !

An advantage of the Pela is each ring is 1 ltr so you can easily see how much you've got out.
