Hi complete newbie here
Which petrol engine would people recommend? Not just on fuel but general handling power etc. Is it possible to convert both to lpg. I plan to use my Bongo as an every day vehicle. I live in the city so a lot of my mileage would be in traffic. Completely been put off Diesels mainly re. heating problems, and the Government seems to be up to something again. Sorry for the list.

The V6 has more power as you might expect whilst the 2l is more economical, however there isn't a lot of difference between the two in MpG more dependent on how you drive certainly compared to more modern vehicles.
Both can be converted to LPG, but do remember that it won't switch to using LPG until it has warmed up so if you only do a few miles at a time in commuting you might never switch over to LPG! LPG comes into its own on longer drives.

Good advice from Geoff, and the 2 litre is a much simpler engine.
Maintenance is easier/ cheaper but the V6 is a lovely smooth and powerful motor.

Thanks for the replies guys

2.0 is simpler and easier to bleed the coolant

In my opinion the 2.0l is underpowered for a fully loaded, converted Bongo and you'll spend more time changing up and down the gearbox revving it's socks off to get anywhere and this will inevitably adversely affect the fuel consumption. The 2.5l V6 has almost double the bhp and is much better suited to powering the heavy Bongo. The extra fuel consumption of the slightly bigger engine is offset by the engine not having to work so hard. I have a 2.5l V6 and the fuel consumption is just one of those things that comes with van ownership (after all it's not a 1.0l Nissan Micra!) It's smooth and quiet and I never have to work on it as it just goes to the mechanic for that.
have a lovely BH weekend!

I did a comparison of premium and standard fue on the V6 here, which will give you a feel to what to expect on long runs https://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum ... 12&t=74153
