Yes fitters leave them out cause they can't charge much for sorting that problem, whilst they can charge more for sorting out the result of the burnt rubbish left in your cylinders, exhaust manifold etc. ;-)
Exactly, ask the diesel fitter where the crap that the filter/strainer once captured going now. I think you know.

To be fair, Mazda have fitted things not always needed (in uk), like the North Japan cold start exhaust gas hot air thing. BUT, I think refitting the banjo filter is probably a good plan. Between us all, hopefully we'll be right ;-)

Yep, plainly the crud which blocked the filter would have got into the engine where it would be 'surplus to requirement'.

Not sure I'd be going back to that particular 'expert'. :?
