CONTINENTAL HEADLAMPS 2019...

Post by BongoAli » Tue Feb 12, 2019 1:07 pm

Hi after some advice and we are in a hurry :(
I know the question has been asked many times but I'm a novice at Bongo repairs/alterations.
We are relocating for 4 years to Belgium on the 25th of March ! and are desperate to take our Florence with us!
However we have the LHD headlamps to sort...we have been in touch with a garage in Belgium who have said it will be a problem. So we need to source some... reading through older posts the Opel Astra F has been used however we have a face lift ford freda can they be used on them?
I would attach a photo of the front of the van but I'm not sure how.

Could we use these headlamps on her if I ordered some?
I think the garage we use could fit them... if they are a good enough fit.
Your help would be so appreciated [-o<
I REALLY don't want to sell her

These people appear to convert Bongo lights to LHD units

based in Spain but worth a punt.

They are in Spain and it'll cost you 500 euros plus you will have to take the bongo/Freda there. I already asked them.
Best bet is the mk3 astra headlights which you can buy on eBay from an Italian seller which you can switch from rhd to LHD.

As you say the problem is the facelift style. You need to get the old style grill and the repeaters then do a bit of wiring and cutting of the grill.
Having the same issue here in France.

Other alternative is keep it registered in UK and holiday once a year in UK and do the not at the same time.

Though it pains me to say it, as a One Bongo Man for nearly 13 years, might this be the time to move over to an LHD campervan like [looks around furtively before whispering] a VW. It could make driving, servicing and repair, accessories, camping compatibility a lot easier.

Buying a (expletive) is not the way and defeats the purpose of having a (blessed) bongo. [-X
