How to get Headlights out??

Post by Dale » Fri Jan 18, 2019 9:12 pm

So i have a Mazda Bongo, year 2014 and i need to get the headlights out. The engine is located under the passenger seat so i cant open the hood of the vehicle. If i can somehow open that flap at the front to access my headlights and the bulbs how do i do it? Thanks! :D

Hi. 8)

The Bongos we normaly deal with hear ceased production ten years before yours was made, so I'm not sure which model you have.

However, if it's like ours there is a pretty standard pull handle for the bonnet by the driver's knee.

You would need to open the bonnet to check coolant and access the battery as well as get to the headlights, so hope that helps.

Hi and thankyou for such a fast reply!

The battery and coolant tank is behind the drivers seat under a metal cover, do you think maybe the headlights just pop out? Is that possible? Because to adjust the beams of the headlights it is done from two small holes at the bottom front of the headlight so I am thinking that the bonet does not come up?

Hi

This does sound like a different vehicle.

Someone on here may well have some thoughts (we have some jolly good peeps here), or could you post a picture or more model info, please?

Here we go...

I think this is the model:

I'm not familiar with it, but there must be a way of opening that panel, and someone here may well have thoughts, and I'll scratch my head.

Edit: Worth checking the steering column, some hide the release catch there.

If you have breakdown cover an e mail to your provider might get a result, or if you bought it from a dealer or importer they might know. [-o<

The Bonnet release and Fuel cap release are normally in similar locations if not next to each other, look down by your right knee under the dashboard and pull the bonnet release, then you will be able to get to the lights from under the bonnet.

Which type of Bongo do you have ? Bongo is similar to Van in Japan so Mazda Van doesn't really tell us which version/style you have they all have names like Friendee which is they one this group mainly deals with.

The link is a google search ? which shows Vanette, Brawny and Friendee versions and several others ?

Sorry Geoff

It should be a picture of a 2014 Mazda Bongo Van BE Forward.

This might work:

This vehicle does not have a bonnet, to change the HL bulb you gain access by removing the side light from inside .The secret is , find a auto shop that give free fitting included in the sale of their bulbs.

PS Bob BE Forward is a motor trade selling scheme .
