Prop shaft bearing

Post by bongoroy63 » Tue Jan 15, 2019 6:26 pm

Hi, I need to replace the universal joint/bearing on the front prop shaft of my van. Can anyone let me know what the part number is for this item please.( the part that looks like a cross!!).
I have contacted my local motor factors today to enquire about this. They went away and spoke to a company who told them it was a specialist job and they would need have the whole prop shaft and compress the new joint into place, therefore needing it for between 4-5 days.
I have watched a youtube video on replacing these parts ( not on a Bongo as there are none on Youtube ) and this seems like a straight forward job to do that I think I am quite capable of doing. Unless anyone can tell me differently I think this company are trying to pull a fast one!!
When I mentioned this to my local motor factors, who I hasten to add are very good and trustworthy, they said they would try and source one for me but would need a part number. Is there anyone out there that can oblige please.
I can, I do, I did.

Possibly a used prop shaft from Bongo Spares?

Hope to catch up soon, maybe Tucker's Grave?

Indeed Bob, sounds like a plan.

Ideally I want a NEW universal joint to be on the safe side. I intend to replace the ones on both end of the prop shaft. There are plenty about on Ebay and elsewhere but I want to make sure I get the right one. I did look on the Bongo shop but it doesn't look like that type of item is available here.

Hopefully some expert on here will have the answer to my question, they're a very knowlable bunch!!

First sentence says, 'Joint/bearing on front prop shaft'.

Yes it’s 4wd. It’s the front prop shaft bearing I need to replace.
