Installing studs into new head

Post by Jordan F » Wed Jan 09, 2019 5:10 am

Hey everyone,

I’m reassembling the new head and putting everything back together after replacing head gasket and new head. Just wondering if anyone knows about installing the exhaust manifold and intake manifold studs, ie. do we need to use any compound on the stud end that goes into the head? Do the studs need to be torqued down or just finger tight?

Thanks!

They will definitely need to be torqued down, never heard of using a compound on studs, but someone with more knowledge may think differently.

Go on YouTube, there's a good vid .
Type how to fit exhaust studs.
I always use copper slip or high temp antisieze especially on steel studs in an ally head.
